About Southern Harmony Chorus
"We're Gonna Roar!" (our mantra for 2017 - 2018 year)
Most choruses have a number of members who form their own vocal quartets in addition to singing with the chorus.Southern Harmony Choruscurrently does not have any active quartets, but we have pick up quartets for shows and special occasions.
Affiliation Southern Harmony Chorusis a chapter of Sweet Adelines, International, a non-profit organization of approximately 21,000 members in choruses and quartets, worldwide. The Headquarters is in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
History The Azalea Chorus of Charleston was chartered in 1976 under the direction of Jean Strickland. The chorus later changed it's name to Rainbow Row Chorus. In 1995, Rainbow Row Chorus merged with The Singing Pines of Summerville who were directed by Deborah Collins. Our current director, Tom Nawrocki, took over the musical leadership in 2000. We travel from several surrounding areas of Charleston, South Carolina: Johns Island, James Island, Ladson, Mt. Pleasant, North Charleston, Summerville, and West Ashley for our weekly rehearsals.
